Helen Shield works with the FASD C.A.R.E. team as a provisionally registered Psychologist. Helen administers neuropsychological assessments to the young people referred to the team. Helen has a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor or Arts (Honours) in Psychology, and is currently finishing a combined Masters in Clinical Neuropsychology, and a PhD exploring the relationship between substance use and prospective memory in young adults. Helen has completed Neuropsychological placements at Neurosciences Unit in Mount Claremont, and the Flinders Medical Centre and Queen Elizabeth Hospital in South Australia. More recently she has administered neuropsychological assessments to young people sentenced at Banksia Hill Detention Centre as part of the Telethon Kids Institute research team.
